Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

NAVTRL operates Stalkr, a real-time outdoor safety and location awareness app (“NAVTRL,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the controls you have. By creating an account or using the app you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Account & profile. Your email, display name, call sign, initials, an optional phone number, and an optional profile photo.

Precise location. When you share with a crew or run a journey, we process GPS data — latitude, longitude, heading, speed, accuracy — and device battery level. You control sharing per crew and can “go dark” instantly. With background permission, location can update while the app is minimized so live sharing and zone/arrival alerts keep working.

Crews & content you create. Crews you create or join, plus markers, safety zones, breadcrumb trails, journeys, and activity events.

Contacts you choose. If you add emergency contacts or pick people to watch a journey, we store the names and phone numbers/emails you select. We do not upload your entire address book.

Emergency medical info (optional). If you fill it in, your blood type, allergies, medications, and notes — used during an SOS and shown to your crew only if you enable that.

Uploaded content. Photos you attach to markers, zones, or your profile.

Device & diagnostics. Push-notification tokens and basic reliability/crash diagnostics.

How we use information

To show your position to crews you’ve chosen and to power zones, journeys, breadcrumb trails, check-ins, dead-man timers, and arrival/SOS alerts; to deliver notifications you’ve enabled; and to operate, secure, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal information and we do not show third-party ads.

Location & background location

Location is used solely for the features above. Background location (if you grant it) keeps live sharing and safety alerts working when the app isn’t open. You can disable location or background location at any time in your device settings — some safety features will stop working when you do.

Journeys & public watch links

A journey is a temporary “watch me get there safely” share. It creates a public link that anyone with the link can open to see your live position, destination, ETA, and arrival status — no account required — until the journey ends. Share watch links only with people you trust.

Crews & shared visibility

Members of a crew can see each other’s live location, direction, status, and shared markers/zones while sharing is on. Going dark shows your last known position to that crew but stops live updates. Each crew is independent.

Notifications & emergency features

We send push and in-app notifications for zone activity, journeys, check-ins, dead-man escalations, and SOS, according to your preferences. SOS can open a pre-filled text to your emergency contacts that includes your location and (if enabled) your medical info. These features are conveniences and may fail — see our Terms.

Service providers

We use providers that process data on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, realtime), Expo (push notification delivery), and Google Maps / Places (map rendering and place search). They are bound to use data only to provide their service.

Data retention & account deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account anytime from Settings → Delete Account. Deletion removes your profile, crews you own, journeys, locations, markers, zones, and associated records, and cannot be undone.

Your choices & controls

Control sharing per crew and go dark instantly; manage notification preferences globally and per crew, including muting specific members; and revoke location, contacts, photo, and notification permissions in your device settings.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected with row-level access controls so you can only access data tied to your account and crews. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

NAVTRL is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Canadian privacy

We handle personal information consistent with Canada’s PIPEDA. You may request access to or correction of your personal information by contacting us.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date, and continued use means you accept the update.
